How to set up Meta CAPI Event tracking in Formflow

Overview

Meta CAPI (Conversions API) helps improve your Facebook tracking accuracy by sending events directly from Formflow servers — not just through browser cookies.
Since many users block cookies, using CAPI ensures you still capture important conversion data for Facebook’s algorithm, improving ad attribution and performance.

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Open Your Form

  • Log in to your Formflow dashboard.

  • Open the form you want to track (e.g., your Application Form).

  • Click Edit Form, then go to the Canvas view.

2. Add Your Facebook Account

  • In the top-right section, click Add Event.

  • Select Meta Event (Meta CAPI).

  • Click Add New Account — this will prompt you to connect your Meta Pixel (Data Set ID) and Access Token.

3. Get Your Data Set ID and Access Token from Meta

  • Go to your Meta Events Manager.

  • Open the Data Set (previously called “Pixel”) you want to use.

  • Copy your Data Set ID — this is your Pixel ID.

  • Under Settings, scroll down and click Generate Access Token.

  • Copy the token.

4. Connect Meta CAPI in Formflow

  • Back in Formflow, paste your Data Set ID and Access Token into the corresponding fields.

  • Click Connect — the system will verify your connection.

  • Once verified, you can name this integration (e.g., “E2 Agency Pixel”).

5. Add a Tracking Event

  • In your Canvas flow, drag out a Send Event (Meta) node where you want the event to trigger — for example, after a submission or a webhook.

  • Choose your connected Meta account.

  • Set your event type:

    • Standard Events: Lead, Purchase, AddToCart, ViewContent, etc.

    • Custom Events: e.g., “Qualified Lead,” “Form Completed,” or anything unique to your process.

6. Test Your Setup

  • Complete a form submission yourself to trigger the event.

  • In Meta Events Manager, go to your connected Data Set → Test Events tab.

  • You should see the event firing.

  • Review and confirm the event in Meta if prompted.

Tips

  • Use custom events for more detailed tracking and better insight into your funnel performance.

  • You can combine Meta CAPI with browser pixel tracking for optimal accuracy.

  • Once verified, Meta will automatically start optimizing based on these server-side events.

Common Use Cases

  • Track qualified leads or bookings instead of just page views.

  • Send event data even when users’ browsers block cookies.

  • Improve ROAS and conversion attribution accuracy in Facebook Ads Manager.
